International Women’s Day: Celebrating the Women Behind Care

Women make up around 81% of the UK adult social care workforce. It’s a statistic that highlights the incredible contribution women make every day to supporting people and families across our communities.

Across the country, women are helping individuals live safely and independently in their own homes, bringing compassion, professionalism and resilience to a role that is both demanding and deeply meaningful.

“What I love about working in care is knowing that the support we give can make such a difference to someone’s day.”

At Quartz Care, we see this dedication every day.

As a family-owned, female-led organisation, we are particularly aware that many people working in care are also balancing other responsibilities — raising families, supporting relatives and managing the many demands of everyday life.

That’s why we have worked hard to create a service that recognises those realities. From flexible rotas to supportive leadership and opportunities to develop within the organisation, we want care to be a profession where people can build a long-term career.

While International Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate the role women play across the sector, we are equally proud of the whole team who make our service possible — including the growing number of men choosing careers in care.

Care is skilled, meaningful work, and everyone who dedicates themselves to it deserves recognition and support.

“We’re incredibly proud of the women across our team whose dedication and professionalism make a difference to the people we support every day.”
