Care Worker
Position Overview: A Care Worker is a compassionate and dedicated individual responsible for assisting individuals who require support due to aging, illness, or disability. The primary role involves helping clients with daily activities, ensuring their well-being, and promoting their independence as much as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care:
- Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Helping clients with mobility and transfers, including the use of hoists and wheelchairs.
- Health Monitoring:
- Administering medications as prescribed.
- Monitoring and recording vital signs and general health conditions.
- Reporting any health concerns or changes in condition to healthcare professionals.
- Household Assistance:
- Performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping.
- Preparing and serving nutritious meals and assisting with feeding if necessary.
- Emotional Support:
- Providing companionship and emotional support.
- Engaging clients in activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction.
- Accompanying clients to appointments, outings, and social events.
- Documentation:
- Keeping accurate records of care provided and any significant events or changes in the client’s condition.
- Communicating effectively with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Education and Training:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in caregiving or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a caring nature.
- Ability to handle physical demands such as lifting and supporting clients.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial but not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
Working Conditions:
- Work carried out in a variety of settings, including clients’ homes
- Shifts may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
